Salmon-safe celebration recognizes years of hard work

NBIS and Salmon Safe have been working together to engage businesses and large-scale urban landowners in addressing critical issues that impact our urban salmon runs in Puget Sound. The Salmon-Safe celebration held on February 24th, hosted by the University of Washington, Salmon-Safe and the Network for Business Innovation and Sustainability (NBIS) honored five outstanding urban properties in the Puget Sound region. About 100 attendees were there to enjoy the event with wonderful food from PCC and of course, salmon-safe wines provided by Terra Blanca. Even the awards were sustainable, with glass plaques made from recycled glass by Glassworks and metal awards made from recycled highway signs. The event recognized years of hard work these businesses put in to make their practices sustainable, and reduce the impacts of urbanization to support restored salmon runs in Puget Sound watersheds.
